I hadn't realized how far off shore the sand bars went (at least, at this time of year). I saw people walking about 100 yards off the beach, and only up to their knees. I went out about an hour after low tide, and the trough between the beach and the bars was sometimes waist deep. In addition to the low tide, there were almost no swells, so everything was pretty calm.

Later that evening, I saw the brightest green flash at sunset that I've yet seen. It was fairly long lasting, and like a bright beacon (no pictures of that). These pictures were taken from our living room window.
